I have never did but my friends from Berlin often do, well at least ones a year
I’ve just asked one of them and they say it doesn’t matter whether you travel alone or with a group of friends as it is safe on the train. The train is not expensive at all plus you will get your own place with the ticket and you will be able to choose where you want to be seated. Anyway the guys said they had fun and that the experience was absolutely positive

you can ussually get on them pretty cheaply
and yes i do eat mcdonalds fast food all day everyday
